I attended my first SCBWI (Society of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators) conference this weekend. The information packed three-day event has left me inspired and motivated.
I participated in my first ever live pitch roundtable and was selected as a finalist from 300 participants. I had the opportunity to pitch my story to the SCBWI staff and over 400 attendees from across the globe! A big thank you SCBWI for this encouragement.
Some of the highlights of the conference included:
Panels of agents, editors, and art directors discussing the current state of children’s publishing
Over 35 breakout sessions with tracks for illustrators, self-publishing authors, traditionally published authors, and nonfiction authors
An opportunity to pitch to acquiring agents and editors
The career-launching Portfolio Showcase
Online socials and peer critiques
Can't wait for the Winter Conference in February 2023!
